Work pressure is the common cause of stress related ailments. Many studies have shown that even suicide rates increase with increased work pressure. With the recession and job losses increasing everyday around the world, work pressure has increased to demonic proportions.

Companies are squeezing more work out of the existing staff. This increases the workload and also increases the pressure on the individual. There are more deadlines to be met. This has led to individuals becoming overworked. This has become the cause for many family problems and increased stress related disorders.

In this kind of situation, is there any way of trying to relax and be happy? It is not easy, but there are a few ways of taking things easy. Here are a few ideas for the overworked individuals who have to meet deadlines perennially and relax at the same time.

1. Take a few deep breaths:

This is a very simple thing and most people may not believe that this will help them relax. But it does have an effect. The reason being that when we are overworked, we do not take deep breaths. This causes less oxygen to be supplied to the brain and tissues leading to a feeling of being tired. It also causes the build up of stress.
When we take deep breaths, it helps to supply increased amount of oxygen to the brain and tissues and makes us feel more relaxed.

2. Divide the work into bits and pieces:

Instead of continuously working, plan your work and divide it into bits and pieces. This will help you feel a sense of achievement after you finish each part. Also reward yourself with a small break after each part of your work is over. This will help you feel more relaxed.

3. Do Yoga:

Yoga is a type of meditation that helps to relax the mind. A lot of companies are starting to have Yoga sessions for their employees to help them to relax. The reason being that when the mind is relaxed, it increases the productivity of the individual. So doing Yoga may help you relax and help you work better and cope with the work pressure.

4. De-clutter your work place:

When the table you work on is not filled with many files and papers, it automatically has an effect on your mental status. You are more relaxed and have the confidence of completing your work. When the table is filled with files and other stuff, it makes you more stressful.

These ideas are sure to help you relax and increase your productivity when followed. It will also help you to cope with the pressures of work and lead a happy life by balancing your life with adequate rest and relaxation in your work.
