Computer basics: Computer education is not just for Software EngineersBY: Muhammed Haris | Category: Technology and Computers | Post Date: 2009-08-31
Computer Education is an absolute requirement for software engineers, but today the basic knowledge of computers is considered as an unavoidable skill in any sector. The syllabus of most non-computer graduation courses do not include anything about Computer Education. Those graduates can finish their graduation even without studying the basics of operating a computer. But the unavoidable fact of modern day era is that a graduate without the knowledge of Computer is basically an incomplete graduate. He tends to struggle in his career. Even if he is able to get into a job, he would surely struggle to retain it and grow higher without the knowledge of computers. There are many institutions offering Computer Science courses to facilitate students to acquire some computer proficiency outside their colleges. Although its better to learn computers when you are at school, but it is not absolutely important. Computer diploma or other certificate courses offered at the Computer Education Centers like NIIT, Aptech, Jet king etc are considered more to the point in job interviews. These institutes organize classes by taking into account the free time of the students who study in the colleges and working professionals. So, it is advisable that every student regardless of the field of core education, should find some time to pursue a short term Computer Education Certification from any such institution. Many youngsters these days have a computer at their home. But they use their computer to play online games, socialize, watch movies, or to listen to music, and spend less time in learning useful computer applications. One should practice atleast some basic applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, HTML etc. The environment at home may not be favorable to learn those applications by own effort. But the Computer Education Centers provide systematic class-room training on the relevant applications.
