Company's role in supporting employeesBY: David Prakash Kumar | Category: Business and Finance | Post Date: 2009-07-09
The employees have an important role in working for a company or organization. They have to work to the best of their ability as the place where a person works is like their second home. The company or organization expects the employee to be committed and diligent in their work. Similarly, when the employees have some problems, it is the company's role to support the employee. This will increase the loyalty of the staff working in the company. Every company asks the employees to work to their maximum ability for the betterment of the company. After putting in all their effort, when they have a personal problem or crisis, the employees expect the company to consider their problem and help them to cope with their troubles. A company should also do everything for supporting employees too. The troubles may be financial or it could be serious illness in the family. It can also be injury or death of a loved one. This creates a feeling of anger, frustration and disbelief for the person. This is the time when the company has to stand by the side of the employee and help him. The company or organization has many roles in supporting an employee. Some of them are: 1. Time off: The company must give a specific time off for people suffering personal crisis. This will help the employee to recover. If no time is given for the employee to cope, the employee may become disgruntled and may not function properly. 2. Benefits: The organization should have reasonable benefits like educational allowances. It can also have support facilities like a childcare facility for the children of its employees. This relieves a great burden off the shoulders of the employees. 3. Help / Support groups: The company can have support groups that act in time of personal crisis situation for its employees. This will help the employees fell that they are not alone in times of crisis. This will also create a positive attitude that will help the person function better and more effectively. Theses are some of the things that the organization can do to make the employee cope with the crisis better. This kind of support from the company will not only benefit the employee by providing comfort in times of crisis, it will also motivate the staff to do better in their work. It will help in increasing the productivity of the organization. It will also help to decrease the attrition rate. The employees will be more loyal to the company and try to repay the kindness and benefits from the company. Supporting employees back is one of the best things a company can do to retain the best talent in a long run.
