Common symptoms of baby teething

Baby teething is an important phase in the growth of a child. The baby teething can be associated with many changes that may cause apprehension in the parents. The parents should know the common symptoms of baby teething to have no apprehensions. They should understand that this is a normal phase of the teething process.

The symptoms associated with teething can vary from one child to another, but there are some common symptoms that can occur in almost all children. This article lists the common symptoms of baby teething.

1. Drooling:

Many children drool more than what was present before that. The sudden increase in drooling can scare parent at times. Some babies drool more than the others and may seem abnormal, but it is a normal process.

2. Irritability:

When the baby has a small lump on the gums, the irritability starts in the babies. This is mainly because of the pain that can be present at the time of drooling. Many children will cry more than normal.

3. Diarrhea:

It is said that diarrhea is another common problem of teething. There is no conclusive reason that has been identified for the diarrhea in children who are teething. The probable cause that is said to be the reason for diarrhea is the excessive saliva that is produced because of teething that is swallowed by the child. The excess saliva swallowed could have a effect in the loosening of stools. The other reason could be that the baby starts biting many different things because of the teething pain. This can cause diarrhea at times.

4. Biting:

Many children start biting at the time of their teething. This can become a problem in some babies who have this habit for a long time. The biting is because the counter pressure provided by the surface they bite. This eases the pain to an extent and that so many babies bite when they are teething. The baby can be helped to ease the pain by providing teething rings that are available widely in the market. These are soft toys that can be bit without any harm. This will provide some relief to the baby.

5. Fever:

Fever is another common symptom of baby teething. Though many health professionals may deny that fever can occur when the baby is teething, many parents have commonly reported it. If the fever persists, it is better for the parents to consult a pediatrician to differentiate between the fever associated with teething or any other fever.

6. Lack of good sleep:

This is another common symptom of teething that is seen. Many babies who were sleeping normally may have some lack of sleep at times. This is also associated with the fever, irritability and pain associated with the teething process. The baby should usually settle down into the normal routine after a few days.

These are the most common symptoms that every parent should know about their babies teething process. The symptoms can be appropriately taken care of with consultation of a pediatrician.
