There are many problems that can be encountered when a baby is born. One of the common problems that are encountered is the sleep of the baby. The baby sleep patterns can vary from time to time and place to place. As you travel to another place, the sleep habits of the baby will change. Each day also the pattern of sleep can vary depending on various factors. The only time when new parents can rest or do their work is the time when the baby sleeps. This is one of the reasons why parents want to know more about the sleep patterns of babies and methods of making the babies sleep peacefully.

This article tells of the various the common problems encountered during baby sleep and methods of solving them. This will help new mothers and parents to be able to help the baby sleep better and also have a restful time when the baby sleeps.

The common problems encountered during baby sleep and methods of solving them

1. Noise:


It is best to shut out all the disturbing noise that can be present when a baby sleeps. Noise can make a baby wake up during sleep and the child can be distressed if woken up in the middle of the sleep. Make sure that you noise proof your child's rooms. Simple methods like shutting the door and windows will help to keep out most of the disturbing noises that can occur.

2. Bed:

Try not to change the bed often. Babies like to keep to a routine. The most important thing is the have the same kind of bed made for the baby each day.

3. Timing:

Though the baby may sleep at different times, try to keep the timing of the baby's sleep at a fixed time. This will help the baby to stick to a routine and also help you to plan certain work around the time of the baby's sleep. When the timing of the sleep is maintained, then it will help the baby to get into a routine, though there will be days when the baby may refuse to sleep till very tired.

4. Lighting:

Some babies may get used to sleeping in the dark and then later on it will be difficult to make the baby sleep in other situations. This should be considered when you shut out the light during the baby's sleep. Try to minimize the lighting so that the bright light does not prevent the sleep of the baby, at the same time try not to keep the room completely dark.

5. Touch:

Contact with the parents can make the baby sleep sooner as the baby feels protected. This on the other hand can make the baby feel dependent on you for sleep. If the baby gets used to sleeping next to you and while being touched or stroked, then the baby will want the same thing to happen each day. Though it is advisable to sleep with the baby when the baby is distressed sometimes, it is not really advisable to make it a routine.
