Low blood pressure is a kind of disease that causes very little problems when compared to the high blood pressure. There are many people who have low blood pressure which can also cause a few problems. These problems may not be as fatal as high blood pressure, but it should also get proper treatment so that people do not get complications due to the lowered blood pressure. There are various signs and causes of the low blood pressure that is described in this article. Causes of low blood pressure: 1. Old age: When a person becomes old, there is a high chance of the person getting low blood pressure if they do not have high blood pressure. This is because old people can have something called as orthostatic hypotension that occurs when the person gets up suddenly after being in the lying position for a long time. This decreases the blood flowing to the brain suddenly and this causes the person to have decreased blood pressure. 2. Hypovolemic shock: When an individual has lost a lot of blood because of an accident or any other problem, then it too can cause low blood pressure. This is because the person may not have a lot of blood in the body because of the loss of blood. This decreased amount of blood in the system causes the person to have less amount of blood circulating to the brain. This causes the person to have low blood pressure in the system. 3. Diseases: There are many diseases like Addisons disease that causes the blood pressure in the person to be lowered. 4. Medications: There are also some medications that can cause the person to have decreased blood pressure. Signs of low blood pressure: There are many signs of lowered blood pressure. This can include signs and symptoms such as dizziness as the person may have fainting attacks because of the decreased blood supply to the brain. Other than the dizziness and fainting, the person with decreased blood pressure can also have symptoms like headache. This can be like light headedness in the person. There can also be signs like numbness in a few people. Other than numbness, blurred vision can also be seen in a few people with decreased blood pressure. Treatment of low blood pressure: When a person has decreased blood pressure, it usually does not cause an emergency like high blood pressure can cause, but even then the lowered blood pressure had to be taken care of as this decreased blood pressure in the body can cause the person to fall down and injure themselves. There are certain medications that can increase the blood pressure. Eating adequate amount of food is another method of having normal blood pressure. The person with decreased blood pressure can also benefit from wearing stockings as this will decrease the poling of blood in the legs. The person who has orthostatic hypotension should also be advised to change their position from lying to standing slowly as suddenly getting up can lower the blood pressure further.
