Cat boarding kennels and their requirementsBY: SEdwin | Category: Animals and Pets | Post Date: 2010-02-19
Cat boarding places are the various kennels that are established for the safety and health of the cats that are taken care of till the owners of the cats return from their trip. There are many kinds of cats available in these cats because of the variety of people who go out on vacations or business trips. This is a very important feature in a city where there are very few people who have a pet and also stay in their own house all through the year to take care of the pet.
People do travel to other places and so they try to hand over their pets to their friends or other people to take care of the pet for the few days they will be gone. This is not always possible. The presence of the cat boarding kennels is one of the best things to happen for those who are in such a quandary. The cat boarding kennels usually take care of these cats till their master returns for a fee.
Each of these cat boarding kennels should have various requirements because they make the cats to be safe in spite of the absence of their masters.
1. Living area:
The cats should have a separate indoor living area that is well protected from various elements of nature. This means that the place should be safe from the wing, sun and rain which are the elements of nature that commonly affect a cat. The protection should not curtail the freedom of the cat to roam in its own place.
2. Exercise area:
The cat should not only have a living area, but it should also have an outdoor area where it can do some stretching. The exercise area for the cat in these kennels are very important because the cats will be highly stressed if they are not given an area to exercise after living in freedom for a long time in the house of the owner of the cat.
3. Prevent animal interaction:
The kennels are not places where the animals should be allowed to socialize. This is because if these animals get close to each other, there is a risk of some infections to be spread from a sick cat to a healthy cat. This is unacceptable to the people who leave their cats in the kennels.
4. Adequate ventilation and lighting:
The kennels and even the individual areas of the cat should have adequate natural lighting and also ventilation. This will make sure that the cats do not get sick while at the kennel. Adequate light and ventilation is very important for the good health of the cats.
5. Food and water:
The food and water that are in the enclosure for the cats should be fresh and the stale food if left over should be removed and only clean water and food left again. This again ensures good health of the cats.
The kennels should have a policy of accepting only cats that have been vaccinated against some common ailments. This will ensure that all the other cats in the place are also safe.
