Carpooling is sharing the car ride with two or more passengers to commute. 3 or 4 people whose commuting routes and schedules are similar to those of others, can just agree between themselves and take turns to drive together to work every day. The money for the two way commute is divided equally per person as per the total expense. Carpooling really works better for people who live close by and commute to same place of work. This will be more helpful for the people who commute thirty minutes or longer each way. Carpooling can work out well with some planning and communication. Carpooling holds good, in commuting the children to school too. The children will likely make good friends within their community. This carpooling idea of neighbors promotes sharing as one important concept. Advantages: -Spending less money on gas & save fuel -Decreased traffic congestion - single car, in the place of 4 cars going to the same destination -Less demand for the parking lot -Save money in parking fees (In case of park and ride) -Can use the car pool lane which is basically an express lane that will help you beat rush hour traffic. -Less emission of carbon dioxide resulting in lesser pollution -Social interaction -Wear and tear of vehicle Tips for carpool: -People who opt for carpool live close together. -Commuters with regular work hours. -It will be more comfortable, if you find people who are more compatible with you. -Make sure people are considerate and responsible. -Make a schedule on a weekly basis on who has to drive. -Make a note of the phone numbers and emails and keep informed with any change of plans. So, by carpooling, we are helping the community in many ways by this kind of neighborly joint activity. There are many carpooling websites that allow employees to set up park and ride and list the schedules in a particular area. When car pool is organized and smooth, it will be really a hassle free commute. One must make sure to give as well as receive good ride sharing company.
