Bottled drinks are very common now a day with many people drinking them. There are even instances of small children being given these soft drinks by their parents. Bottled soft drinks taste good as they are sweet and when they are refrigerated, people like to drink them. Though they taste good, the bottled soft drinks have many ill effects on the health of the person who drinks them.

The ill effects of drinking bottled soft drinks are given below:

1. Calories:
The bottled soft drinks have empty calories. They are full of calories because of the high sugar content in them. Though there is sugar, there is no other nutrition available in the soft drinks. Actually they are like sweetened water that is carbonated. The calories can lead to obesity in children as well as adults.

2. Stomach ulcers: Due to the soft drinks being carbonated, they can lead to stomach ulcers in the population that is vulnerable. In those with stomach ulcers already, drinking these carbonated soft drinks can lead to an exacerbation of the condition.

3. Carcinogenic: There are also some people who have found that the plastic bottles that are used can lead to cancer. Actually excessive usage of plastic containers can lead to cancers.

4. Hygiene: Some of the bottled drinks are made in very unhygienic conditions. This can lead to a host of various diseases. Some of the diseases can even be life threatening.

5. Water: Since the carbonated soft drinks are mainly made of water and sugar, mass production of the soft drinks can lead to a decrease in the level of the ground water. This can lead to sever water shortages in certain areas where the companies are present. Due to this fact, these companies are required by law to use certain methods to replenish the water levels.

6. Environment: The large number of bottles made of plastic is used to vend the soft drinks. This actually leads to a great environmental problem. The plastic bottles cannot be disposed off very easily. Recycling them will also lead to pollution. This has led to many companies resorting to environment safe containers.

7. Expenditure: The companies that mass-produce these soft drinks do not give them at a deceased price. They make a lot of profit and this leads to loss of money from the customers.

These are some of the ill effects caused by drinking bottled soft drinks. So individuals have to be careful when they drink too much of these drinks. Drinking a little is not bad, but drinking these soft drinks like water is sure to cause ill health in the long run.
