Benefits of crying - Why do tears come when we cry - Do men cry?BY: Jessica | Category: Relationships | Post Date: 2008-09-22
WHY DO WE GET TEARS WHEN WE CRY: It happens with almost everyone of us, when we are sad (or even extremely happy) our tears seem to flow our automatically. Even though many men seem to follow the attitude of "we don't cry", they certainly did when they were a child. Some believe, when we are upset, our brain produces lot of hormones and chemicals. When we cry many of those toxins/chemicals are released along with tears and help us to reduce our sadness. BENEFITS OF CRYING: The action of crying itself releases stress relieving hormones which make us feel better. That also kind of explains why people feel more calm and refreshed after shedding some tears. Crying opens the lungs, cleans & exercises the eyes and softens the temper. Crying releases emotional tensions and has a beneficial effect on both the mind and body. Females do seem to produce psychic tears more frequently than men possibly due to habits and a greater level of emotions. Crying is perhaps the easiest and fastest way to release emotional pain. TYPES OF TEARS: Our tears glands may release fluid (tears) if we are 1. Sad, emotional or cry. In some cases they may come out when we are extremely happy (Psychic or emotional tears). 2. Basal tears protect our eyes by keeping them moist. 3. We may also get tears if something irritating goes inside our eyes and tears try to flush it out (Reflex tears). The chemical composition of all these tears is different. Tears brought about by emotions have a different chemical make up than those for lubrication; emotional tears contain more of the protein-based hormones. BABY CRYING: Babies express themself by crying, this may be because they are hungry, frustrated or in pain (well sometimes they just want to cry anyway). Our brains are naturally binded to baby crying, therefore we immediately seem to give them attention. EVEN ANIMALS CRY: Some animals appear to cry because of emotional reasons, most prominent being elephants (by shedding tears). They are even mourn the dead. Many animals can produce tears when suffering in pain. DO REAL MEN CRY - IS IT UN-MASCULINE FOR MEN TO CRY? Well the level of crying depends on person to person but overall men seem to be less emotional then women and they usually cry far less. Less crying does not mean that they are less attached to their family members. Some men do tend to stop their tears because of masculine reasons, and some may express they feelings by over-reacting. It is natural for any human being to cry therefore most men do cry, some cry when they are alone ...and besides everything else .. girls love it.
