Its little awkward but architecture does speak, but can we hear it. Humans for long have built monuments and buildings for reasons many. In medieval ages castles and tombs were the highest architectural priority. Architecture those days depicted victory, pleasure etc. Many architectural accomplishments have been achieved on earth to this date. But do we know them all. Do we know their purpose of existence, their specialties?

Architecture around us might not be catchy enough to drive our attention, but if the same building thrives for another some time it becomes a piece of special importance at that time. The time may be in years or centuries. That's the reason why we admire great monuments. But its not that only great architecture speaks. Even a small piece of architecture speaks either we don't understand it or it takes time to speak.

Taj mahal speaks for love. Great statue of liberty speaks for liberty. Palaces speak about the fame and splendor the kings enjoyed those days. It speaks about their rule, the luxury. So do all the million small and big buildings. The British monuments in India say about the pre independence situation of India. The roads and lanes call out to millions who pass by never knowing which would be the last journey. The garden speaks about the evenings we spent with friends. The cool breeze still blows but are we the same. The railway station speaks to the person who are leaving and others who are coming. A house to young man might speak his childhood which he has spent in the house. It might speak of his transition from infant to child then to teenager and then to adult. It might speak of his moments with family members who are now far from him.

School where a person is prepared exposed to a new world. School speaks for the days passed by. The loneliness we first felt when it was first day at school and our parents left us. School speaks of our moments with friends. Each classroom has its own story to tell. The café speaks about the treats given and taken. Playground speaks our adventures in games, falls, bleeding and finally first aid box being bought. The college speaks about careers we chose. It speaks about bigger adventures. Laboratory speaks about the messing of experiment, struggling outputs and broken equipments. Library speaks for the studies done in the end moment and the hope that the exam would be easy. Hostel speaks about the tough job of being away from ones family. It speaks about the responsibility we had to undertake. School and college speak for everyone who was part of it. But when do we hear it? It's heard when we visit it again after many years of pass out. At that time many of our friends would have been settled far from us, many of our teachers would have been retired or either transferred. What remains is a faithful partner the building the architecture.
Still much architecture will be accomplished on earth. Every piece of architecture speaks. Even the architecture is not permanent barring some exceptions. But the important fact is it speaks. The point is can we hear it. Today architecture is necessity. Express your architecture and let architecture express you, see the difference.
