Caesarian section surgery or C-section, which is also called as LSCS, is a type of surgery that is used to deliver a baby from the uterus of the mother. It is usually done to reduce the risk of various complications that can occur f\during child birth. It is sometimes performed as an elective surgery where the mother wants a Caesarian section surgery done instead of delivering the baby normally. Causes for Caesarian section surgery: 1. Fetal Distress: When the baby inside the mothers womb is in distress due to various reasons, Caesarian section surgery is done as a emergency surgery to deliver the baby to prevent the baby from dying. It is also done to prevent complication to the mother. 2. Small pelvis or big baby: When the baby is very big or the pelvic opening of the pregnant woman is very small, to prevent the baby from being injured during child birth, surgery is performed to deliver the baby. 3. There can be other emergencies that can occur that require emergency removal of the baby from the mothers w\uterus to save the life of the baby and the life of the mother. Advantages of Caesarian section surgery: 1. Painless: The delivery itself is painless. This is because of the anesthesia that is given to the woman before the Caesarian section surgery. This prevents the woman from feeling the pain of labor. Many women suffer with severe pain during the birth of the child. This is especially true in the birth of the first child when the labor can be prolonged. This causes very severe pain during each contraction and also during the actual birth of the child. 2. Prevents head injury to baby: Many babies are injured in the process of being born. There can be difficult deliveries where the head of the baby may be injured in the process of natural child birth. This can lead to various levels of disabilities in the child. Some of these disabilities may persist in the child and this is a major complication of normal or vaginal delivery that is prevented in Caesarian section surgery. 3. Prevents other damage to baby: Another advantage of Caesarian section surgery is that during normal delivery of a child, there can be damage to the child's nerves. This is commonly seen when traction is used to pull the baby out of the birth canal. When the traction is applied, a group of nerves can be damaged causing mild to very severe disability in the child. 4. Elective: Some people who are superstitious try to have an elective surgery to have the baby born on the day that they want the baby to be born. Though the incidence of this kind of Caesarian section surgery is very rare, it does happen now and then and can be considered to be an advantage of Caesarian section surgery. These are the various important advantages of Caesarian section surgery. Though the risks associated with Caesarian section surgery are present, the advantages present in undergoing Caesarian section surgery help the baby to be born in a safe environment.
