Suicides are very common in almost all countries. When an adolescent commits suicide, it is a greater loss for the community and the family. Adolescent suicides are common in many countries. The reasons can be many for these suicides. Some of the common reasons for suicides are given in this article. Most of these adolescents who commit suicide are those who study in colleges. The common reason is the emotional and psychological trauma that the individual undergoes in the adolescent age. The most common reasons are listed below. 1. Sensitive kids: Many of the children in the adolescent group are very sensitive. This makes them take all criticisms to the heart. This makes them lack the will to fight against the distress and the sorrow that is present in almost all people. When these people face any hurdles in their daily routine, they get depressed which can also lead to suicide. 2. Family bond: When a child is very close to the family members, this attachment may sometimes be the cause for the downfall. The child may be very attached to a member of the family which can be one of the parents or a sibling. When the same family member disapproves the child or scolds the child, it can cause severe depression in the child. This is a major cause of suicide in the adolescent age group. 3. Love failure: This is another common cause of suicides in the adolescent age group. When a partner spurns the adolescent, the child takes this to the heart. The lack of ability to take no for an answer causes severe heart ache that is another major cause of suicides in the adolescents. 4. Insecurity: Young adults or the adolescents feel more insecure than other age groups. This is because they are in a age group where they do not really know who is close to them. This makes them very vulnerable to any problems. They are driven to suicide which they think is the only path available to them, when they face any big problem. 5. To scare others: Many children like to scare their family members or their friends. To scare them, they tell that they will commit suicide. Once they tell this, they sometimes commit suicide to keep their work. Other times, they just attempt suicide to show that they are trying to kill themselves, while actually they do not want to kill themselves. The attempt sometimes goes wrong and the adolescent dies. The main method of prevention of suicides in adolescents is to have patience with them and support them in times of need. Try to keep the house and surroundings free of any implements that can be used for suicide. These are the causes and prevention methods that can help the adolescents from committing suicide.
