The journey from a child to a teenager is exciting and has less responsibilities. The journey from a teenager to a family man and a parent brings about a lot of changes in a person. He becomes mature.

Parents who never got an opportunity to enjoy their life and have struggled to earn a livelihood, would be very protective and let their children enjoy what they could not.

I know of a person who did not have much income to enjoy, rather he struggled and saved every penny for his children's future.

When he had children, he protected them so much that the children became dependent on him, emotionally and practically even after their own marriage.

The father's intention was not wrong. He wanted to give all the happiness and not let his children suffer, and face any hardships. He would wash his children's clothes, iron them, bring all the groceries, help his wife in the kitchen, not allow his children to do any work, go with his children to any interview calls etc.

What will happen to such children if they have been brought up in such a relaxed and protective cocoon ? It resembles a life of a baby in his mother's womb who cries when it comes out in the world from a protective womb !

Life has become complex and very ruthless. With numerous incidents happening in the world and so many health problems, life is unpredictable.

Children should definitely be protected and be given a conducive environment to grow up. But, they should also be exposed to difficult situations and be made independent so that they can survive in this world, all by themselves if any situation demands so.

Too much of independence is bad, but being a friend and a balance between freedom and protection would do the trick of being a good parent.
