If you have been involved with a business of some type of sales, you may be aware of or even be the owner of Think and Grow Rich. But, if you do not know this book, it was written by Napoleon Hill, and it was released in the 1930's. This is his most famous quote,"Whatever, friend, you can conceive and believe, you can achieve."

The first chapter of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill writes about 6 steps a person can take to change a desire into reality. Desire here is more than just wishing, as almost everyone wishes they were wealthy. This desire is much stronger than wishing or wanting, it is more of an obsession. These are the six steps you can take to turn a want or wish to a desire that will turn into actuality.

Since Napoleon Hill uses money as the goal, I will also use money. Any goal can be substituted in for money.

1. Determine the exact quantity of money you desire. Do not be general, be specific with the amount.

2. Decide what you are willing to lose for the money you desire? You cannot get something for nothing.

3. Decide on a definite date you anticipate to acquire the money you desire.

4. Set up a plan for carrying out your desire. Start putting it into action, in spite of not being ready.

5. Now write all of the above steps in a statement.

6. The last step is to read your statement 2 times a day, one in the morning and the other at night. As you read, begin to feel and believe that you already have the money.

You may find it very hard for you to envision yourself in ownership of something before you have it in your possession. But, BURNING DESIRE will help you here. When your desire becomes an obsession, you will have no problem in seeing yourself already attaining your desire. You want to become so strong-minded that you CONVINCE yourself that you will have it.

DESIRE for money must so saturate you that you can see yourself already owning your desire. The author calls this "money-conscious".

If you are thinking that this does not work, it may be helpful to know these are the steps that Andrew Carnegie credits for helping him accumulate his riches. Also, Thomas Edison has approved of these six steps to gain money, but also for any definite goal.

No hard work is called for in these six steps, but you will need imagination. You must realize that all who get wealth did so by first dreaming, hoping, wishing, DESIRING, and PLANNING.

You must understand that before you can reach your goals or acquire wealth, you must first BELIEVE that you will have it. If you do not see great riches in your imagination, you will never see them in your bank balance.

In life no more is required to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty.
